Learn the Reilly Method of Drawing Faces

If you missed the first class, you can catch up by going to You Tube and watching “How to Draw the Head and Face - Reilly Method-art Tutorial” Art By Galen, Front View.

The Reilly Abstraction is a drawing method that focuses on creating the shape of the head by using construction lines and shapes that represent the proportions of the face. This is a system that an artist can duplicate in order to create proportional faces. The system focuses on abstract shapes first, then the details of the features.

There are lots of steps in this lesson. Students will be able to draw a face. Sandra will demonstrate the steps one at a time and help the students complete the rhythm lines.

This class is for students 16 and older. Supplies (pencil, paper and erasers) will be provided by the art gallery.

This class is open to 8 students.

Linocut printmaking Class

Those Artists who choose to create a pattern will have the opportunity to ink their block and fill a paper with their design. This is also a great time to print your image into your sketchbook/journal/dot journal.

Everyone will have a carved block and printed images to take with them.

WARNING: the Lino gauges are sharp and it is possible to cut yourself. But I have been teaching linocut printmaking in public school this way and rarely anyone get cut. But it can be done.

HOMEWORK :-) look around the internet at Linocut artists for ideas and inspiration. If you have time, sketch and draw out a few ideas to bring with you.

This class is open to all 12 years old and up. Students who are younger than 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. The adult does not have to take the class, but they might want to.
