Learn how to draw faces using the Reilly abstraction. This is a two-part drawing class with Gallery Artist Sandra Dixon. This class is part 1. Part 2 will be held at a later date. The Reilly Abstraction is a drawing method that focuses on creating the shape of the head by using construction lines and shapes that represent the proportions of the face. This is a system that an artist can duplicate in order to create proportional faces. The system focuses on abstract shapes first, then the details of the features.

There are lots of steps in this lesson. Students will be able to draw a face with the first class. Sandra will demonstrate the steps one at a time and help the students complete the rhythm lines. The students will leave class with an informational handout to help further study and learn the Reilly abstraction.

The second class will give you more details. This class is for students 16 and older. Supplies (pencil, paper and erasers) will be provided by the art gallery.
