Nature Art Journaling Class

  • The Art Gallery at NWA Mall 4201 North Shiloh Drive Fayetteville, AR, 72703 United States (map)

This class is an introduction to Illustrated Nature Journaling taught by gallery artist Jim Mullenax. Keeping an illustrated, observational journal is a centuries-old method which helps to focus our attention in nature and crystalize our observations, thoughts, and experiences. You do not need to be an artist or a naturalist to begin. The focus of this class will be on helping the student set up their nature journal and starting a lifetime habit of observing and documenting their world using drawing, words and numbers.
Class includes a brief history of nature journaling, gathering art supplies, setting up the journal, and completing their first journal entry. The Art Gallery will have a selection of nature items to sketch, or if the weather is nice, the class might go outside to sketch.

Art supplies will be provided by the Gallery and you are welcome to bring your own. The supplies will be a journal, pencil, pen and colored pencils.

This class is open to all ages 8 and older. Children younger than 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult. The adult may also take the class or simply observe.

This is a ticketed free event.
